About This Work
I paint directly onto pages from fashion magazines, transforming mass-media imagery into an alternative that feels truer to reality.
During the pandemic, unsolicited copies of Elle Magazine began arriving in my mailbox. What started as idle doodling became a way to process grief, anger, and the fractures the crisis revealed. Working with discarded magazines made me aware of how much I don’t need and of the creative possibilities in what I already have. The project also led me to reconsider my practice, my consumption, and the products I create.
The resulting imagery: plumed, masked figures with subtle gestures toward deities and intuition.
