Artist Statement
I create in response to sound. My practice focuses on translating music into marks, capturing the energy of a performance as it happens.
I work alongside musicians, DJs, beatmakers, and jazz ensembles in studios and immersive spaces (dance floors and experimental venues). In these settings, I draw the sounds and vibrations in real time.
During these moments, I act as a conduit for the music. My presence is quiet and intentional. I do not perform for an audience. I listen with them. As the atmosphere shifts, I render it on paper or canvas. The result is a visual notation of the music.
This work invites viewers to consider how we experience rhythm and emotion. Do we lose ourselves, or do we bring our lived experiences into what we hear? Each piece is a way of testing my attention and presence in that moment. Music is not only something we hear but something we feel in our bodies.
